-A Blog is a webpage where a person can regularly write updates, share photos, videos, and/or audio with their blog audience. It is a great way to update your friends on what is going on in your life if used in a personal way.

What are the pedagogical implications of student driven BLOGS in contrasting to a teacher-created website?
-A student driven blog could be a very useful tool for group related projects, and in forms of generating group discussions. Peers are an excellent source of help in a class, so a student driven blog could definitely be very useful and helpful.

What are the child-protection, copyright, and social issues that are involved?
-A child-protection issue that would be involved in a classroom blog would be that if a teacher or student was not careful, the student's personal information could be displayed where predators could gain access to it, same with photos. A copyright issue would be if any of the people making posts on the blog used any kind of material from another person without getting permission, which could lead to a lawsuit. Social issues might be that some students may not have access to a computer or to the internet, and therefore would be discriminated against in a way, because they would not be able to participate in the blog.

  3. A blog is a webpage that enables you to share files and information with a finite group of people.

Pedagogically speaking, blogs are great for scheduling and group work/networking. Blogs are also nice because they are readily available and more interactive and engaging than a piece of paper or a flyer.

It is very important that child-protection and copy rights are observed. Child protection is an especially big social issue because there are a lot of dangerous things that a child can easily get into. With copy rights also it is important to observe the laws and regulations set forth because you can get busted and in trouble really easily. With the internet you can never be too sure of how "protected" or "private" your blog or webpage is, so it is very important to observe copyright codes and leave out specific personal information about yourself or others.

  4. In the education world blogs have the potential of being used as a way to communicate to students, parents, teachers, and the community. Blogs give people a chance to see what tomorrow's leaders are doing today.

Blogs are also resources that teachers can use to become creative, as well as give students the chance to express and share what they have learned.

    Possible ideas for blogs:
    Upload pictures of activities
    Share work already completed
Upload more information on upcoming assignments

There are also issues that have to be addressed if this technology is to be used. A few of these issues are but are not limited to: copyright laws, child-protection, and social issues.

Copyright Laws: It is of important to make sure you are not plagiarizing others work. An unsuspecting child may accidentally add something that cannot be posted without permission from the proper source.

Child-protection: it is crucial that an over assuming adult doesn't endanger a child by posting to much personal information. This would include but not limited to: photos, names, and/or locations.

Social issues: some adult are unfamiliar with blogging. It might pose as a daunting task. The students might live in an area where internet or computers are not readily available.

    Pedagogical implications:
Blogs allow all patries, parent students and teachers to see whats going on. The more you allow the student to be involved, the more they can learn. Kids now days are so good with technology, why not let them use what they know and learn while doing it.
There are risks to any activty that we do but as teachers we want to keep our students safe from any harm. But with a Blog, you can choose who you would allow to see and have access to it. As a teacher we'll have to make sure that what we're doing and posting is safe. we as teachers will have to always be on top of that. Extra responsibility but a great and fun way to be organized and share information with others

Identity theft is such a huge problem in the world that we can never be too careful with giving out information about ourselves. We need to make sure that we can security locks on our blogs so that not anyone can come in and snoop around your blog. Copyright laws are very important to keep in mind. you don't want to be caught in something like that. Permission needs to be granted before taking someone else's work and claiming it as your own. We need to also be mindful of what we are saying on our blogs. State you beliefs and ideas but always be aware of those who will be reading your blog.

  16. A Blog is a personal website anyone can create to share information over the web.

Student driven blogs can be a great way for students to share their work and learn from the work of their classmates. With teacher sites the students can turn in homework or teachers could have sites to talk with colleagues.

Child protection laws are in place to help protect children. It is important not to share personal information about students over the web. Copyright laws say not to put other peoples words, photos, music, or other works on the web. A social issue related to children and the web is that not all sites are appropriate for viewing and the teacher should be sure the sites the students are using at school are appropriate.

  17. What is a blog?
A blog is your own personal website that you can update with your own stories, pictures, videos, songs, etc. People can become your “followers” and get updates when you update your blog.

What are the pedagogical implications of student driven BLOGS in contrasting to a teacher-created website?
Blogs can be a useful toll in which students can interact with one another. Blogs can be set to private so only “followers” can view information unlike other websites that are open to the public.

What are the child-protection, copyright, and social issues that are involved?
One of the major issues with child-protection and blogs is that if you are not very careful private information can be shared with online predators. Children should be taught never to share any private information over the internet and all blogs should be supervised by a responsible adult.
Issues with copyright occur when people post material hat doesn’t belong to them. You should be very careful with what you post.
Some of the social issues with blogs are that people post whatever is on their mind at the moment. Many people don’t think about the viewers of their blog or the impression they are sending out to the world. Even if a blog is set on high privacy settings you can never be 100% sure your information is safe.

Achieving complete privacy on the interweb is nearly impossible these days. we can never be too careful with giving out information about ourselves. The students can learn from their peers as they use their blog to communicate with other students and learn from them as well.

What are the child-protection, copyright and social issues involved?
With anything on the internet one must be careful with the information that is made visible to others. Teachers cannot give out personal information about their students. However to protect the students, as a teacher they must be sure to heed caution in what they post on the internet. Child-protection- The children’s personal information are not supposed to be on blogs and protect the children will be a big issue of how much appropriate personal information can be showed on blogs.
Copyright- Using other’s word, photos, or videos is not acceptable while transmitting those to your own blog.
Social Issues- Nowadays we saw lots of ad with sex appeal clothes or even more obvious way to promote sex, drugs, or just something are really tempting for youth.

  22. What is a blog?
-It can be an electronic version of a journal that allows people you allow to comment and give feedback. Most importantly, it can also be a great tool for learning, allowing students to write their thoughts on certain topics, etc.

What are the pedagogical implications of student driven blogs in contrasting to a teacher-created website?
-Having a blog is more student focused and allows students to take a more interactive role in creating it. When this happens, students will want to participate more and this allows them to learn more. Another important aspect is that it allows students and teachers to get feedback either on lessons, or performance, etc.

What are the child-protection, copyright, and social issues that are involved?
-For child protection, there should not be any personal information available, and if there are pictures, it should be as a group and not specifically labeled.
-For copyright, you are not allowed to use other people's pictures, words or other forms of media without the proper permission.
-For Social Issues, we need to educate our students how to appropriately use blogs such as not looking up things they are not supposed to, how to appropriately respond to comments etc.

  23. What is a Blog?
A blog is a few different things. One of them can be like an online journal. The only thing is this journal is intended for others to see. The other thing is other people can make comments on what you write as well so it adds a nice twist.
What are the pedagogical implications of student driven BLOGS in contrasting to a teacher-created website?
For student driven blogs, they can feel like they did it more. It is their own personal thing. Since learning is personal the student can learn in a more personal way with how the blog is treated as opposed to just visiting what the teacher did.
What are the child-protection, copyright, and social issues that are involved?
One thing may be that some students, on the poorer end of things may not have access to a computer outside class and because of that they may not be as computer savvy as some of the other students. As far as protection goes you do not want to put too much information on the internet as there are internet predators out there.

  26. A blog is a space that lets us all express ourselves to the world. No longer do we need to buy journals or subscribe to hear what people think. We have loads of infomation from everywhere, about everything at our fingertips.
The Pedagogical implications of student driven BLOGS are that the teacher teaches students how to express themselves. These Blogs are a way for students to take control of their education and knowledge and contrast it with that of the other students. Blogs make learning personal for the student.
Some of the child-protection, copyright and social issues that are involved are included in topics of safty. Is it safe to have a childs name on the internet anymore? These issues need to be resolved by strict guidlines on what a child can put on their blog as well as their teacher. Another issue may be the problem of students writting things about other students in the class. This could be a problem but could only be solved through strict obervance of socail and safty rules.

  27. I read the comment that was posted by "class blog" and I thought that they made some excellent points. They said that student driven blogs are useful because it gets the student blogging and gets them looking at other useful blogs, which was a very good point. There are some really good blogs out there that can be really helpful in the classroom, especially to a new teacher. They also said that we as teachers need to help our students to be safe about what information that they are giving out, and that we as teachers need to make sure that what they are posting is appropriate, which was also a very good point to make. I totally agree with these ideas.

  30. Lacey Laycock - I read this one. I agree with all her answers. Students are a great resource for each other. And a blog can really help them communicate together. We also, as teachers, need to be mindful of the kind of information they are posting. We are responsible for these children.

  33. Kammi G. is most definately right! Blogs are definately sights which are updated frequently. blogs are tools which will definately enhance creativity. But i am actually really impressed with her bullying insight... I never even considered that. I always looked at it from the perspective of outside harms, not the harms that lie with-in. Good insight kammi! Thank you. Supervision will definately be a key factor in using blogs in a productive way. Its such a great tool if used properly, we just need to figure out what works best for us in our classrooms.

  34. I agree with Marci. A blog is a great way to get the students more involved and to make them step out of their comfort zone to learn. They are very interactive and interesting. Marci said that it could be used as a tool for planning, I think that this is a great idea because it allows not only students to see the schedule of assignments and important dates but also it provides a way for parents to get more involved. It allows them to see what their child is doing and play a more interactive role in their education.

  35. I agree with Penman, I like how he put that blogs can be like journals. Also, I liked how he said that there is a bad end to blogs, which is the safety of putting things onto the internet.

  40. I totally agree Cristina, A blog is not just a place expressing your personal life, but provide some information for parents, students, or even colleague. Furthermore, blogger can share with others their creative work or inspired words. As we use blog there are some rule we should know about. Like what Cristina said "
with anything on the internet one must be careful with the information that is made visible to others." We future teacher should be aware of revealing students personal information on blog. Teacher should use blog appropriately and use it as a resource or place to connect to students and parents.

  43. I like Aaron Puzey's idea of a blogs being three way communication between teacher, student, and classmate. Students can leave feedback or ask question about an assignment by just leaving a comment. That is a novel idea. Could you imagine if your professor had a blog where you could see the next writing assignment and ask or review question on the specifics of the assignment and not have to find the professor's email, email your question, check you email frequently and then forget what the response was so you feel addicted to email. Instead all you would do is post a question and either a fellow classmate or the professor would answer it and you would have one source to go to! That would be heaven!

  44. I really like what RR had to say about blogs. She said that blogs are a great tool to get students more involved. I think that's definitely a great idea. Say a student may be a little bit shy about voicing their opinions in group discussion in class, If there was a group discussion question over a blog, the shy student may voice some helpful, wonderful insight that we may otherwise have never gotten to receive. Great idea RR!

  46. I agree with Brooke on how important blogs can be when used within a classroom. Blogs are another way to encourage class participation and have students contribute their ideas and share it with their classmates. I also agree with Cristina about the privacy and copyright issues that need to be adhered to. I believe that these copyright and privacy issues need to be taught to students, teachers, and parents to ensure the safety of everyone.

  47. I agree with what Lacey said about blogs. Her explanation of blogs was very easy to understand and relate to. Her idea to use blogs in groups in the classroom is a good way to improve peer communication and cooperation. It is very important for students to feel included. Blogs are a good way for students to interact with teach other and interact with the teacher. What Lacey said about child privacy was also very important in the classroom.

  48. Ash is right I think it is so important to guard your identity and to have a password. It is also important as a teacher to monitor blogs between students to make sure nothin bad is going on. This is a really good idea.

  49. With the increase of technology use in the classroom, a blog is another tool that we can use to help, students, teachers, and parents stay informed about what is happening within their child's classroom. A blog can be used to display information on the internet so that people can have access wherever there is a computer and internet available.

Student driven blogs are good because it allows the students to discuss and bring up topics that they are interested in. Blogs are another form that some students may be more comfortable to participating in.

Some of the copyright issues that should be considered is privacy and what is posted on the blog. Precautions should be taken when thinking about how much you want to share with others on the blog.
